Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets’ complete health care needs.   The gradual onset of health problems in an apparently healthy pet often goes unnoticed. Once symptoms appear, the condition can be more difficult or costly to diagnose and treat.

At least once a year, your pet should have a complete physical examination.

Vaccination Against Preventable Diseases:  Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major diseases. Today, many immunizations and preventative treatments are available that did not exist just a few years ago. The staff at Jockey Hollow Veterinary Practice can help you decide what preventative measures are necessary for your pet(s).

Surgical Services

Whether your pet requires elective or emergency surgery, our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. 

Anesthesia:  We use the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.  All animals are placed on our warm surgery tables to minimize body heat loss during surgery. Our surgical staff is exceptionally trained and continuously train to expand their skills.

Surgical Consultation: We offer in-hospital referrals to board certified surgeons who will perform surgeries on our more difficult cases.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We have digital x-ray with the help of board certified radiologists one-click away.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Ultrasound and Echocardiography: We perform in-house ultrasound and echocardiograms. Our equipment is fully integrated with board certified radiologist review and consultation.   

We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.

We are happy to see your unusual pet. Feathered, scaled, and furry pets are welcome. We provide full diagnostic and surgical services for chickens, rabbits, lizards, snakes, turtles and tortoises, birds, ferrets and more.

Dental disease is not only painful but can impact your pet’s overall health. Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, periodontal care, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. Routine dental care will help to maintain not only strong, clean teeth and gums, but also a healthy body and full lifespan.

We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Many health conditions can be treated with food as a therapy. We carry and recommend many companies including Purina, Hills Science Diet, Royal Canin, Blue Buffalo and Rayne. We can even help you develop a recipe for home-made diets. 

We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
